The Gaokao Results Are Out—Where Should I, a Second-Year High School Student, Go from Here?

Yesterday, June 25, the Gaokao results for Guangdong Province were released. As someone about to enter my third year of high school, I checked mine as well, and it made me a little worried about where I’ll be a year from now.

I’m a science-track student, and my grades are generally in the lower-middle range. In the final exams of the second semester of my second year, I struggled to score around 250 points. I’m still more than a hundred points away from the undergraduate admission cutoff of 376, and I don’t know how hard I’ll have to work to narrow the gap.

Let’s set a small (big) goal for myself: break 280 points in the final exams, then try to squeeze into the 300-point range in the first and second mock exams. Although this is especially difficult, all I can do is grit my teeth and keep moving forward!

Giving Up

Last night, I made a major decision. With a heavy heart, I left all the groups related to iApp one by one. I’ve been using iApp for half a year, and I really like this development tool. But I had no choice—it was taking up too much of my time, so I had to put it aside for now. Maybe I’ll come back after the Gaokao is over.

In addition, I’ve stopped operating several websites. The projects whose plans had already been arranged will all have to be postponed until after the Gaokao, so I’ll let them remain paused for a year. Over the coming year, I’ll devote my thoughts to studying. I may occasionally write on my blog and share how I’m feeling, but I won’t think about any other programming plans for the time being.
