The First Week of Slacking Off After Finishing Subject Three

Pangu on the Provincial Leaderboard

Monday has come around again.

I played ranked games all last night, using only Pangu. I went from being just over a hundred points away from the provincial leaderboard to being just a dozen points short, then dropped to more than two hundred points away from 99th place on the provincial leaderboard.

It was already after ten at night, and even if I kept playing, it would be difficult to make the provincial leaderboard this week.

A win gave me thirty points, while a loss cost me sixty. Winning and losing over and over again left me exhausted, and my awareness was starting to go offline.

Subject Three

A week has passed since the day I finished Subject Three.

Last Monday, the thirteenth, I arrived at the test site at six-thirty in the morning. It was still dark, and the evening breeze was slightly chilly.

Because I was nervous about the test, I didn't dare wear too many layers, afraid they would affect my driving.

Standing at the entrance to the test site, I shivered in the wind.

A little after seven, the instructor who was responsible for taking me through the mock test came over and called my name. I followed him into the car and started the mock test.

During the mock test, you can drive all three routes once. Going through them in advance means you won't take a wrong turn during the actual test.

After more than an hour, I had finished all three routes: I passed twice with full marks, and lost points once because the engine stalled. It wasn't a big problem; I was in great form.

At around nine, I finished the pre-test procedures and finally entered the waiting room, where I waited for the test to begin.

I don't know how long I waited. In any case, it was a very, very long time before it was finally my turn.

The test itself was fairly easy, and the result was exactly what I expected: I passed with full marks on my first attempt.

To be honest, I still felt a little relieved at that moment, just like when I finished Subject Two.

It was finally over. The next Subject Four would be no problem at all. I could book the test after the New Year and get it taken care of before winter break ended.

After more than half a year of struggling through the process of getting my driver's license, I was finally nearing the end.

The Journey Home for the Holiday

The school's holiday started on the 14th. I planned to book Subject Three for the 20th, go home on the 14th, practice for a week, and then take the test.

Who knew the instructor would suddenly say that the last batch of Subject Three tests before the New Year had been scheduled for the 13th? If I waited until after the New Year to take it, the semester would have already started by the time I managed to book Subject Four.

Fortunately, when our counselor held a class meeting for us, they gave us some good news. Although the school's official holiday date was the 14th,

in fact, students from every college could go home as soon as they finished their exams. Even luckier, the last exam for my major was scheduled for the 7th, which meant I could go home to practice driving on the 8th.

And as if that weren't convenient enough, a few days earlier I had managed to grab a high-speed train ticket for the evening of the 7th, so I could get home a little after ten that night.

And so, I became the first person in the dormitory to go home.

What I hadn't expected was that the school was incredibly far from the train station. I spent more than two hours taking buses.

After that, I still had to walk for almost half an hour, and Amap even led me onto those deserted country roads.

It was late at night, and there weren't even any streetlights. I was terrified as I walked, afraid a robber might suddenly come running out from the roadside.

By the time I reached the train station, it was already a little after seven in the evening. Thinking that I had left school at four that afternoon and spent so long making my way to the station, I was completely exhausted.

As luck would have it, I was also wearing a very thick sweatshirt. I was drenched in sweat, but it wasn't as if I could take it off.

Waiting for the train was pretty boring, so I played one game of Honor of Kings Chess. I thought I could finish it in ten or twenty minutes, but it dragged on for half an hour. I made it past thirty rounds and only narrowly won the championship, just as my train arrived at the station and ticket inspection began.

The train traveled very quickly. In less than two hours, it reached the terminal station.
