After the Chinese exam for the Gaokao ended this morning, the essay topics for the Chinese exam in provinces across the country were gradually made public. I took a look, and the most popular one was an essay topic from National Paper I.

Topic

According to a recent survey of international students studying in China, the “key Chinese words” they are most interested in include: the Belt and Road Initiative, giant pandas, square dancing, Chinese cuisine, the Great Wall, shared bicycles, Peking Opera, air pollution, beautiful villages, food safety, high-speed rail, and mobile payments.

Writing Requirements

Choose two or three keywords from the list to present the China you know, and write an essay to help young people from other countries understand China. You should select appropriate keywords and make them form an organic connection; choose an angle, clarify the issue, and create your own title. Do not imitate model essays or plagiarize. The essay should be no fewer than 800 Chinese characters.

Sample Essay (Zero-Point Essay)

Xin Ye rides a shared bicycle, singing Peking Opera, and travels along the Belt and Road Initiative. Passing through a beautiful village, Xin Ye sees giant pandas dancing square dances on the Great Wall. This deeply attracts me, so I stop to watch while eating Chinese cuisine, and then use mobile payment to pay the bill. Although there is occasional air pollution, our food is safe. Finally, because I have eaten too much and can no longer ride, I have no choice but to take the high-speed rail home.
