Ever since Xiaomi released these earphones, I had been wanting to buy them. The earphones I had been using recently happened to break, so I ordered them without hesitation. Since buying directly from the Xiaomi Mall requires 10 RMB in shipping fees, my extremely stingy self naturally chose Suning.com instead. The final price was only 31.9 RMB, whereas buying directly from the official website would cost 39.9 RMB.

I have to say, Suning.com's own delivery service is really fast. I ordered them the night before last, and the courier called me at noon yesterday (the next-day delivery was very punctual). Unfortunately, I wasn't at home and couldn't receive the package, so I picked it up this morning. The package from Suning Express was very well packaged and undamaged. The delivery service deserves a positive review for that alone.

Delivery packaging

There was also something inside the delivery box that I had no idea what to do with. It even told me not to squeeze it. Suning is really amusing.

Inside the delivery box

The front of the Xiaomi Piston Earphones box.

There are several points worth noting inside: first, the cable of these earphones is 1.25 meters long. After using them for a while, I feel that this cable length is very suitable for everyday use. I haven't encountered the awkward situation of the cable being too short, as with my old earphones, nor has the cable being too long caused any inconvenience. Another relatively novel detail is that the side includes configuration information written in Traditional Chinese, although I have never heard much about Xiaomi's performance in the Taiwanese market.

Earphone information

After opening the box, it contained a warranty certificate, the earphones themselves, and earphone accessories. The accessories include two sizes in total, so people with different ear sizes can replace them according to their individual needs.

Earphone accessories

Looking closely at the earphones themselves, Xiaomi has upgraded the earphone housings this time. The new aluminum alloy shells replace the original plastic material. Using metal improves the overall feel while also increasing the earphones' total weight. Still, adopting this kind of craftsmanship in a 29-yuan product is commendable. Compared with my previous old model, another improvement is that these earphones incorporate more ergonomic design. I have to say that this design brings a tremendous improvement in sound isolation and wearing comfort compared with the first-generation Piston Earphones.

Finally, let me briefly talk about my personal impressions of their sound quality. First of all, for people who have not used high-end earphones for a long time, the sound quality is already sufficient. Overall, the sound feels somewhat lacking in layering, and there is also some loss of detail.

I will also offer some purchasing advice. If there is a Xiaomi Home nearby or you can add them to a combined order, I still recommend buying them at this price (I don't recommend online shopping, since the 10 RMB shipping fee makes them more expensive). They are more than adequate for taking out occasionally to relieve travel fatigue. These are merely some of my personal, humble opinions.
