I still took the main road to work this morning—the whole point was to be reckless and headstrong. Then I discovered that there were actually no traffic police at the intersection by the subway station today. Looks like they don’t come every day to catch people, so from now on I can confidently take this route.

In the morning, I mainly worked on some wrap-up tasks from before I got off work yesterday. After revising the code, I pushed it to Cloudflare and waited for the build to finish, then went straight to find my boss and report back. I don’t know whether my boss saw the message, but there was no reply for a long time.

HR came to discuss the independent site with me. I spent a long time explaining domain-related knowledge to him. Later in the conversation, he mentioned that he had said yesterday that he would replace my monitor and told me to pick a suitable one on JD.com myself.

I realized that this might still be my first time using a 4K monitor, so I had to choose a decent one. I kept hesitating over which model to pick. The parameters weren’t good enough if it was too cheap, but if it was too expensive, I was worried the company’s budget might not be enough.

I had been looking at ones around 1,000–1,400, but in the end I gritted my teeth and sent HR a 1,600-yuan model. As it turned out, he told me to choose a Dell monitor. So all the time I had spent picking one was wasted.

What was most annoying was that he ultimately picked a Dell S2725QS for me. After comparing it with the one I had chosen, it was actually inferior in every way to mine. I can only say that branded products have terrible value for money.

But what’s done is done, and all I can do is hope that the new monitor tomorrow will bring me a pleasant surprise. After all, it’s still my first time using a 4K monitor. Once I have the means in the future, I’ll buy myself an even better one of my own.

After work today, I also took the main road back to my rented room. I have to say, there were really a lot of people. I had always taken the small road before, and I didn’t realize there would also be so many people during rush hour after work. Looks like I’ll have to take the small road home after work in the future if I want to avoid such heavy traffic.

When I reached an intersection in the village, there were so many cars that they were moving very slowly. Then, just as I had already stopped, a white sedan came from the left. The driver may have been distracted while playing with his phone and drove straight into me.

The bang immediately attracted the attention of the people nearby. The delivery rider closest to me directly complained, “Holy crap, that was brutal.” I was a little dazed, then stood up and looked at the driver. The driver quickly raised his hand to signal an apology.

Actually, he hadn’t hit me at all; he had only hit the back seat of the electric scooter. It probably scared the driver badly. If it had been someone else, they would have simply lain down and refused to let it go without extorting a few thousand yuan from him.

I figured the driver wasn’t doing it on purpose and had merely been distracted. His attitude when apologizing was also pretty good, so I didn’t say much to him and just drove away. Mainly, there were too many people watching nearby, which made me feel a little embarrassed.
